What choices do we have for renewable energy?

When we talk of renewable energy, we all hear it everyday but one thing that we all need to consider is what are the choices? There is an array of options if we are to look at it in a vast point oof view. But in today's context, the most prominent and promising ones would be solar, hydro and wind power.

But firstly let me give a quick definition of Renewable Energy, according to wikipedia, Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources—such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat—which are renewable (naturally replenished). In 2006, about 18% of global final energy consumption came from renewables, with 13% coming from traditional biomass, such as wood-burning. Hydroelectricity was the next largest renewable source, providing 3% of global energy consumption and 15% of global electricity generation.[1]

What i so much love about all these renewable energy option is that they can all be gotten from nature, as a nature lover, harnessing the power from nature to help in carrying out my domestic endeavours usually give me joy.

Taking a look at solar for example. According to research, the sun has been around for over 5million years, dissipating energy to the earth. But mankind is not making use of its energy to its full potential not until recently. Now mankind has now realised that the sun being the primary source of energy is the best bet for power generation. But what I know is that we still have a long way to go in harnessing the huge energy from the sun to make life easier for mankind.

There is a wrong notion going around now, Most people believe the only way to get solar and wind power is to buy factory-built panels and windmills and that it is too costly to be envisageable by average-class people.

WRONG! With as low as $100 or $200 and the right manual or betterstill the right information. You can have your own solar power generator built by yourself ready in few days.
